“A kind and compassionate approach, plenty of time in the appointment to go through everything in detail. The plan going forwards felt like a collaboration rather than something being put on me. Extremely knowledgeable doctor who clearly is a specialist in the field, I wish I had found this place years ago”

“Dr Rebecca Smithson was fantastic. She provided me with valuable information that had never been presented to me before, which I am extremely grateful for as it has made a very positive difference for me. Not only did she help with the possible histamine intolerance, she provided great tips for managing my health related stress/anxiety. Can not recommend this team enough, such a positive experience. “After a couple of years of back and forth with the NHS service providers, who simply are not up to date enough with women's medicine and are under such pressure, I found Menopause Care. It was such a relief to be taken seriously and to be listened to.
I also used the pharmacy services and the meds arrived, problem free, the next.”

Why I started Menopause Care, by Dr Naomi Potter

“I had met so many patients who felt confused about their symptoms, anxious without clear guidance, and left without a diagnosis or information about menopause. With Menopause Care, I wanted to change that—offering the support, knowledge, and compassion women deserve to feel their best through midlife.”

Frequently asked questions

Will I be able to get a clear diagnosis of perimenopause or menopause in my consultation?
Caret

Our doctors will talk through your whole medical history, and be able to provide a clear answer to whether your symptoms could be hormonal or are caused by another condition. Our doctors are experts in assessing whether the root cause could be perimenopause or menopause. Obtaining a clear diagnosis will depend on your exact medical circumstances and the root cause of your specific symptoms. If the cause is not hormonal, your doctor will recommend further investigations to put you on a clear path to diagnosis

Can I have my appointments in-person?
Caret

Yes, we have 12 clinics across the UK. 5 clinics are in London, 3 clinics are in the East of England, 3 clinics are in the North of England and we have one clinic in Scotland. View our clinics here: https://www.menopausecare.co.uk/clinics

Do I need a blood test before my appointment?
Caret

No, in general blood tests are not required in before an appointment. Perimenopause and menopause are usually defined by your symptoms, and medical history rather than by a specific test. If you do need a specific test, you doctor will advise that in the consultation.

How do I choose between a care plan and a one-off appointment?
Caret

It is completely your choice how you access our care. Over 80% of our new patients choose a care plan, this is because it offers more complete support beyond your initial appointment. If you are looking to just speak to an expert once, then a one off appointment will be the right option.

How do the care plans work?
Caret

Our care plans are designed to offer personalised treatment, ongoing support, and a more manageable way to cover the cost of private care. By spreading the cost of your appointments and medications over three months, you get access to expert care without the upfront pressure. You’ll also benefit from added support between appointments, including WhatsApp access to a member of our clinical team. Your can cancel your care plan every 3 months. Each full doctor appointment triggers three months more on the care plan, aligning with typical prescription cycles. Most women will need around four appointments per year.

When can I book my follow-up appointment?
Caret

We will email you reminding you to book your follow up-whether you are on our care plan or have single appointments.

When and how do you take payment?
Caret
  • We take payment at point of booking to secure the booking.
  • We offer full refunds if there is a change or cancellation prior to 48 business hours in advance of the appointment (an exception is our face to face clinics where there is a £25 charge) – see Terms and Conditions.
  • Should you wish to reschedule an appointment within this 48 hour window refunds are not offered as it is unlikely we will be able to fill the slot.
  • This is to cover our costs of a missed appointment as we may not be able to fill them at short notice.
  • Should you cancel an appointment with less than 48 business hours of an appointment, no refund will be offered.
  • This is because it is unlikely we will be able to rebook the missed slot.
  • Refunds are returned via your original payment method. It can take a few days (up to 10 days) for this process to complete.
  • This is governed by our payment system ‘Stripe’ and cannot be expedited.
How do prescriptions work in the care plan, and one off?
Caret

In the care plan, you have £90 of medications credit included in the price. The majority of first prescriptions are less than £90, so this has been designed to make our care as complete as possible. However, there is a wide range of medications that women choose after their consultation. If your prescription costs over £90, you will be invoiced the extra cost as a one off payment following your consultation. Learn more about our medications pricing here.
‍If you are paying one off for your care and medications you will be invoiced after your appointment for the prescription medication your doctor issued. You do not have to obtain your medication privately with us, but if you choose to we ship it Royal Mail 24 the day after you pay.
